Saving Charlie

NOTE : Spoilers ahead if you haven't watched Heroes season 1 and/or 4 (I'm not sure if Charlie is on S3, nevermind S2) but nothing you wouldn't see on Wikia anyway ^-^

Yesterday, I went to SM Megamall with gourmethunter. After meeting another friend, we went to Powerbooks to see if they still have a copy of Stargirl. While browsing the display I saw something very familiar~ a book with the Heroes logo on it! Another thing that caught my attention is its title, Saving Charlie.

I know there's a Heroes graphic novel but this one is text-only, and obviously it focuses on Hiro's determination to save Charlie. In season 1, Charlie died the same episode she was introduced. She was wiped out of the story so early that I was slightly disappointed- because Charlie is one of those characters you'd like right away, even Hiro who just met her for the first time in that episode couldn't accept her death, and would make you go, "why do the most interesting characters have to die?" *is also thinking of characters like Aerith, Nuriko, etc..*.

Having the power to bend time and space continuum, Hiro went back to the past (temporarily leaving his then mission to save the cheerleader) to warn Charlie of her impending death and save her.. and failed. He tried many times and still failed - when he was able to save her from her killer, it turned out that Charlie was to die because of a brain tumor, and all Hiro's effort went to waste.

It was one of those best-saddest moment in Heroes 1: Hiro's realization that despite having superpowers, there are still many things he cannot stop from happening. Despite Charlie's short appearance, she made a huge impact on the story. Hiro learned a lot from Charlie's death, from an audience' point of view, knowing that when the story started Hiro was a bit too idealistic and had this, "I'm going to be a SUPERHERO and save the world!" optimistic comic-hero attitude (which I totally love, btw).

Everything there happened at a course of two episodes, so most of what happened was not shown but merely recounted by Hiro to Ando. It looks like this book is about that, and though I already know the outcome, I still want to read the book. I wanted to buy it yesterday but I can't really afford it. I kind of wished I saw this before the exchange gift last Christmas and included it on my wishlist. But that's okay because I got Love, Stargirl which is also good (that's why we're looking for its first book.) I definitely want to read Saving Charlie, and hope when I return for the book it's still available ^_^;

Anyway~ just now my officemate was telling me that he has just watched Heroes season 4 and that he's planning to watch the series from season 1... and I kind of mentioned Charlie and he told me that Charlie is on season 4 !!!! So I didn't let him give me too much details since I'm still stuck on Season 3. But he told me that at season 4 Hiro will try once again to save Charlie. Now I'm wondering if that book, Saving Charlie, only covers season 1 or season 4 as well. I don't want to search about it yet...but now I really want to buy that book. And hopefully catch up with Heroes ^_^

Which is unlikely to happen soon, because I'm currently reading Fairy Tail and currently planning to watch the anime. *weeps* So many fandom, so little time. >.<
