Exactly twelve years ago...

Exactly twelve years ago, my grandfather picked me up from school. That's the first and only time he did that, and it turns out that he was going to bring me to the hospital. My mother just gave birth to my youngest sister, Samantha. Because kids aren't allowed inside the buiding, I didn't  get to go inside. Fortunately, their room was visible from the car park. Cradling my newly-born sibling, my mom smiled to us and tried to make the baby's face visible a little bit.

Exactly twelve years ago, I first saw my sister, a tiny bundle of joy being cradled by my mom, through the window of one recovery room at the local hospital. I couldn't see her well enough but I was content. I could tell that she's a healthy, beautiful newborn. I was in awe.

Exactly twelve years ago, I fell in love at first sight. And I promised to help take care of this little gift from God with all my best.

Happy Birthday, Sam.

Love,
Ate
